2020 Call for Speakers Now Open!

Each year the Canadian Boiler Society calls on it members and leaders to come together for a day of informative sessions and networking. In 2019, we had a very successful round of Education Days. Each session drew 25-50 attendees from various boiler manufactures, suppliers to the industry, consultants and end users.

We are looking forward to a continued success in 2020 with an additional Education Day in Calgary and are eager to select qualified speakers to help inform our current and soon to be members on the latest innovations and pertinent topics that matter to CBS members. .

Thursday, April 2 – Montreal, QC
Thursday, April 30 – Calgary, AB

Tuesday, October 6 – Kingston, ON

We invite you to share your innovative ideas at the Education Days by submitting proposals for presentations on topics such as, but not limited to:

  •  Boiler Design
  • CHP
  • Efficiency Testing/Energy Conservation/Emission Reduction Opportunities
  • Environmental Considerations
  • New Technologies in the Boiler Industry
  • Operators/Continued Education
  • Piping Codes
  • Regulations/Code Updates
  • Steam System Care and Maintenance and Alternate Heat and Fuel Sources
  • Steam Traps Insulation/Testing Methods/Steam Quality
  • Thermodynamics

Presentation Specifications

Presentations will be programmed in various time-frames.

Submitting Presentation Proposals 

  • Your submission must include the title of the presentation, presenter name(s) and organization(s), presenter bio(s), and the presentation description.
  • Please submit a short description of your presentation. Please ensure your description accurately reflects the content of the session. The CBS strives to prepare Education Days that are non-commercial in nature. Presentations will be vetted to ensure non-commercial content.
  • Presentation rooms will be set up with a projector and laptop for PowerPoint presentations. Please specify any additional audio-visual equipment that you will need for your presentation.
  • Please allow time within your presentation for questions and discussion.
  • All accepted presenters are asked to provide an electronic copy of their presentation for the conference website. Presenters are responsible for duplicating any handouts at their own cost if they wish to provide within their presentations.


The 250-word description will be the basis for the judging the proposal. All evaluations will be based on the following criteria:

  • Importance
  • Innovation and originality
  • Quality, clarity and organization of submission
  • Sessions will be selected to ensure a varied program
